Lockett Meadow
I am an independent woman
From the Potomac River’s shores,
And before I die I want
Simply to create beauty.
I come from the capital,
But I yearn for nature:
Serene am I in the forest,
In nature I am content.
Here is radiant color and light,
Here is peace and inspiration,
And, like the golden eagle,
Here, my heart soars free.
